It’s the start of a new week. A lot to talk about.
Coronavirus
The breaking news comes from Moderna. According to Fox Business, Moderna says it’s vaccine is 94.5% effective in preventing Covid-19. That’s two effective vaccines now after Pfizer announced one last week.
The vaccines can’t come soon enough either. Covid cases are surging in many states including Florida. Ten thousand new cases on Sunday. The highest number since July. Also, a 7.5% positivity rate. Despite those numbers, Florida does not appear headed for a lockdown.
But other places are.
Chicago is under a stay-at-home order. Philadelphia is expected to announce restrictions soon. States and cities all across America are doing things to stop the spread.
Dr. Anthony Fauci says the U.S. is on track to lose another two hundred thousand people by Spring unless we better embrace public safety measures.
The New York Times is reporting that Fauci is saying that current administration health officials are not working with the Joe Biden transition team. That’s a problem. Eleven million cases of Coronavirus in the United States now.
Election 2020
Still not conceding. President Trump is standing firm. For a minute, it appeared he was conceding… then he walked it back. So, we wait.
Weather
Another bad hurricane is headed into Central America. Hurricane Iota is now a category five storm and going to the same place as Eta did.
Space
Happier news now. A successful launch over at the Cape. SpaceX and NASA launched the Crew Dragon with four astronauts on board. They are headed to the International Space Station. It was a beautiful sight. Go baby, go!
That’s where I start the week. It’s so strange to think that Thanksgiving is just a week away. What a strange holiday season it will be.
