It’s the start of a new week. A lot going on. Some of the news is actually good, too!
Let’s start there.
Coronavirus
The first Coronavirus vaccine is about to be distributed in the U.K. The CNBC headline says: “V Day is coming.” Tuesday, the first of the Pfizer vaccines will be given to healthcare workers and those over 80.
So, when will the vaccine be available in the U.S.? The FDA meets this week to discuss emergency use of the vaccine.
On another note, one more person in President Trump’s orbit has tested positive for Covid. Rudy Giuliani. The President’s personal attorney was admitted to the Georgetown University Hospital on Sunday. CNN is reporting that Giuliani is doing well.
But even with all the good news, there is real concern about a surge in Coronavirus cases. The holidays are here and folks are socializing more than usual.
Politics
To politics. President Trump still says he won the election. During a rally in Georgia on Saturday, the President said, “We’ve never lost an election. We’re winning this election.” The Washington Post reports it was Trump’s first rally since the election.
As for President-elect Joe Biden, he continues to put together his administration. Multiple sources say his health team is in place. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra will lead Health and Human Services. Dr. Vivek Murthy as Surgeon General. Dr. Rochelle Walensky will run the CDC. Dr. Anthony Fauci will add to his role as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases by becoming Chief Medical Adviser to the President on Covid-19.
In Other News…
In monolith news, they keep popping up and disappearing. One has appeared outside of Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop in Pittsburgh. The store claims it “mysteriously appeared in front of the store.”
That’s where we start the week. I’ll write later this week about two of my favorite words: Meryl and Streep.
