It’s been a week. A pretty good one, I think. I’m ready for it to be over with though. I need to be quiet for awhile and recharge the batteries.
Looking back though, a few thoughts. President Biden isn’t afraid to go big. After his address to Congress this week, the president has some big plans. With his American Rescue Plan, the American Jobs Plan, and the American Families Plan, we’re talking 6 trillion dollars.
This won’t be easy to accomplish. While Republicans may be on board with some of this, a lot will be a tough sell.
President Biden is on the road now trying to sell it to the American people.
It’s starting to feel like the Covid pandemic is really ending. New York City Mayor Bill de Blaiso says, “This is going to be the summer of New York City.” He wants the city fully reopened starting July 1.
From CNBC, de Blasio says, “We are ready for stores to open, for business to open, offices, theaters, full strength.”
This would be the first time the city will be fully open in more than a year. It could happen sooner. Governor Andrew Cuomo says he doesn’t want to wait that long.
Here in Florida, there is new guidance about masks and social distancing. Our Surgeon General says fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks in public.
From the Tampa Bay Times, Dr. Scott Rivkees says that those who have received all necessary immunizations, no longer need to avoid social and recreational gatherings except in “limited circumstances.”
This is great news. Finally, there’s good proof that masking up, social distancing and getting vaccinated is paying off.
I’m ready to enjoy a weekend.
