Russell Rhodes Blog

Busted.

I was going to take a break from the blog today. Something though, just came across my phone that I just have to share.

It’s from the Washington Post… “Germany’s foreign intelligence service claims to have intercepted radio communications in which Russian soldiers discuss indiscriminate killings in Ukraine.”

The Post reports that “in two separate communications Russian soldiers describe how they question soldiers and civilians, and proceed to shoot them.”

If all this is true, it will totally undermine the claims by Russia that the atrocities in Bucha happened after Russian soldiers left the area. Busted.

I’m sure that Russia will continue to deny that it committed any of this, but the world knows better.

Now what?

NATO is calling on its allies to supply more weapons to Ukraine. Weapons. Not troops. We aren’t there yet.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister is asking for three things, “My agenda is very simple. It has only three items on it. It’s weapons, weapons and weapons.”

President Zelensky has one simple message: “We will fight and we will not retreat.”

While the Pentagon has said this could be a long war, this may be a critical moment. General Jack Keane tells Fox News, “There is a real opportunity here that the Ukrainians will not only just fight the Russians to a standstill in the Donbas region, in the vicinity of Mariupol, but actually have the ability to drive them out. If that takes place, this fight’s not gonna go on for years.”

The U.S. Senate will vote today on whether to ban Russian oil imports and end normal trade relations. It’s expected to pass and go on to the President’s desk for his signature.

Reuters reports the United Nations will vote today on suspending Russia from the U.N. Human Rights Council. I’m thinking that Russia has sealed that deal on its own. Busted.
