The Washington Post has an interesting story today about Michael Jackson. It’s the tenth anniversary of his death. The article is called, “Easy on the Ears. Painful on the Brain. We still hear Michael Jackson, but we don’t listen.”
It got me thinking… how do we listen to Michael Jackson now? After the documentary about the alleged child abuse, you can’t just “listen” to Michael anymore. When the music starts playing, you start thinking. If you believe it or not, it’s just not the same. I can’t separate it. I can’t listen to “Thriller” the way I used to. It’s sad that he’s not here to defend himself. That said, he isn’t. We have to just draw our own conclusions. Maybe that’s not fair, but it’s all we have. So, all day today, we will hear Michael Jackson songs. Our favorites.
For me, it’s not the same. My ears hear the music. My mind just has to think.
Yes, I totally agree Russell, sad but true
