I have been thinking a lot about Cokie Roberts. The NPR/ABC journalist died a few days ago. She was always one of my favorites. One of those great reporters that you could always trust to get it right. A few years back, I had the opportunity to interview her. She had a new book, Founding Mother’s, about the women that worked to establish the country. Cokie came to Tampa to promote the book. She came to the TV station for the interview. I was a bit of a nervous wreck. I mean, it was Cokie Roberts! Well, she couldn’t have been nicer. Appreciative. And she was smart. So smart. Such a pleasure to talk to. I’m glad I got to meet her. One of my mentors.
