A few things to talk about as I run into the weekend like a horse when it sees the barn. (It’s been a long week.)
I think we saw a real change in the war with Russia and Ukraine. The more Vladimir Putin does, the worse he looks. And the rest of the world becomes more resolved to defeat him.
Ukraine just keeps getting the upper hand. Russia is now telling its civilians to evacuate from the Russian-occupied Kherson region of Ukraine. The New York Times is reporting that Ukraine continues its biggest advance since the war began.
The mighty Russian army doesn’t look so mighty does it? Vladimir Putin doesn’t look so scary anymore, does he?
If you had told me this when the war started, I wouldn’t have believed you.
A recession? NPR is reporting that the country’s top business leaders are preparing for the worst. The head of JPMorgan Chase, Jamie Dimon, says the United States will be in a recession “six, nine months from now.”
Even President Biden has said he believes the country could be headed for a slight recession.
Inflation is still too high. We are paying more for just about everything. It doesn’t seem to be getting better either. Inflation is now the highest it’s been in forty years.
What will this mean for the upcoming midterm elections? We will have our answer in a month.
I’m going to end this with some good news. Well, some good news for a fat bear named 747. Fat Bear Week ended a few days ago. 747 won the voting. The bear stocked up on salmon at the Katmai National Park in Alaska.
747 is a big boy. Rangers say he could have bulked up to a whopping 1400 pounds. Apparently the other bears at the park defer to 747 when he approaches. Can’t blame them.
I’m planning to “fatten up” with some pizza today and take a long nap too. Just call me 747.
Oh how I enjoy your blog!
