There’s a new Fox News Poll. Three out of four Americans think the U.S. economy is getting worse.

Asked about that at an ice cream store in Oregon, President Biden said, “Our economy is strong as hell.”

He’s going to need to do a lot of convincing of that. That Fox News poll finds that 51 percent of voters say their financial situation is now worse than it was two years ago. Just 15 percent say it was better. (I really want to know who those 15 percent are.)

You don’t have to go far to see that times are tough. Gas prices are still too high. Grocery items are more expensive.

How will this affect the upcoming midterm elections is still anyone’s guess. I’m guessing it’s going to matter. Maybe a lot.

It’s not just the Fox News poll either. There’s a new New York Times/Siena College poll. 49 percent of likely voters say they planned to vote for a Republican to represent them in Congress. 45 percent say they will vote for a Democrat.

Economic concerns are the most important issues facing voters in the Times/Siena poll. The survey also shows that the economy is a far more important issue than abortion.

Add to this, the disapproval of President Biden. 45 percent strongly disapprove of the job he’s doing.

I started this by saying, “You think it’s bad here…”. That’s because the economy in the U.K. is far worse than ours.

CNN reports that just four days into the job, Britain’s new finance minister says he will reverse almost every tax measure announced just three weeks ago.

This is a complete reversal of the tax cutting plans announced by new Prime Minister Liz Truss. On Friday, she fired the previous finance minister.

Truss has been in office for just a few weeks. Some believe her tenure as Prime Minister may be short lived.

The world’s economy is suffering. I think the effects of the Covid pandemic are still playing out.

Where things go from here are still anyone’s guess. We do know this. People are hurting. They may well take it out on Democrats in November.
