Here we are. Back again to our favorite city.
Paris is magical anytime of year. At Christmas though, it really is something special.
Yes, we do come here a lot. Some of my friends asked why we don’t go someplace else? The short answer is… we just like it here.
Last night, we just walked. It was a little cold and a little rainy. There is something special about walking along the river and seeing the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Seeing Notre Dame return to its beauty. Happening upon a cafe and having the best beef bourguignon of your life.
The stores and their holiday windows are spectacular. The giant tree in Gallery Lafayette is once again beautiful.
And then, the people. The French can be, well, French. For the most part though, they are lovely. When they discover you are American, they want to talk politics. It just happened to me in the elevator going up to our apartment.
He asked where I was from? I said Florida. “Oh, DeSantis is the boss of Florida.” “Not my boss, I said.” We laughed. Then he said, “Trump and Biden for president. 77 and 81.” He knew. I said, “Old.” We laughed again.
The French care about American politics and culture. The guy knew way more about American politics than I know about the French. Heck, I would have to look up Trump and Biden’s exact ages. I just did.
Paris, again. Not a bad place to be. Maybe I will end up here.
You may know that I grew up in Paris, Texas. My friend Matthew joked with me the other day that I started out in Paris. I will probably end up in Paris too. Okay, I’m good with that.
