news take breaks

I got this in my email box this morning… “Don’t Drown in Current Events.” Hahaha! I mean, I’m in the news business, what am I supposed to do?

I get it though. It’s a lot. If you try and keep up with everything going on, it will make you crazy. Look at me. I’m crazy.

Seriously, even I have learned to microdose my news. When I’m not working, I’m not watching. Yes, I get news alerts on my phone. I read them. I have learned though what to process.

If Trump calls Biden “low IQ,” I let it roll off. That’s just what he does. It no longer phases me. If, however, my friend Dave Osterberg tells me about tornadoes hitting Oklahoma, I’m dialing up the OKC TV stations.

I do understand it when folks say they just can’t watch the news anymore. I get it. It’s too much. I remember when there wasn’t 24 hour news. You waited until 6pm to get the news. 6:30 for Walter Cronkite. That seems so long ago. I don’t recall drowning in current events though.
