Thinking a lot this week about Apollo 11. The mission that finally got us to the moon.

It made me think about President Kennedy’s speech in 1962. He said, “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.” The NASA folks later said that this took them by surprise. They had to get to work. They did it too.

What a speech though. I mean, Kennedy said do things not because they are easy, but because they are hard. Wow. That’s totally counter intuitive to how I think. It is also totally inspiring. I’m loving watching all this news coverage of the moon landing fifty years ago. And to think, a speech 59 years ago got it going. “We choose to go to the moon in this decade…”.
